Frequently Asked Dental Questions – White Plains, NY

Ask Your White Plains Dentist

Before you come to Westchester Dental Group, we’re sure you have a few questions, and we’re more than ready to answer them. Below, we’ve gone ahead and responded to some of the most popular questions we receive every day, but if there is anything else you’d like to ask, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Are you currently accepting new patients?

Yes, Westchester Dental Group is currently open for new patients of all ages. Whether it’s time for your child’s checkup or you’re ready to get that smile makeover you’ve always wanted, we’re eager to see you and can provide everything you need.

How often should I visit the dentist?

On average, a person should see a dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning, as this is often enough that it enables us to find potential problems early and take care of them before they become serious. For people with gum disease, these routine visits might need to be more often to ensure the infection stays in check.

Which type of toothbrush should I use?

Basically, if you choose a toothbrush with the American Dental Association seal of approval on the packaging, you are in good shape. Both manual and electric brushes have been proven to be effective at removing cavity-causing plaque, so it’s really down to personal preference. Electric brushes do tend to work better for young children and those with mobility issues, however.

Is flossing really that important?

Despite what you may have seen in the news, flossing should be an essential part of everyone’s oral hygiene routine. It cleans the areas between the teeth that a toothbrush can’t reach, and it can help freshen your breath while also lowering your risk for cavities and gum disease. We recommend flossing once in the evening right before bed.

Will you take my dental insurance?

Westchester Dental Group is able to work with many different dental insurance plans, so we recommend giving us a call so we can go over your coverage with you. That way, we can give you a rough estimate of what you’ll be expected to pay out of pocket so you can plan accordingly.

Is it possible to finance my dental care?

Yes! You can sign up for low-to-no interest financing with CareCredit right through our website. Just go to our “New Patients” page and click the button. CareCredit is used by thousands of healthcare providers around the country and has enabled countless patients to finally afford the treatments they want and need.
