Our practice has been around for over 30 years, but it certainly doesn’t look and feel like it when you step through our doors! That’s because Dr. Teich and Dr. Langstein know that in order to deliver the best possible care, they have to take advantage of the latest, proven technology. Below are just some of the instruments we use every day to serve our patients, many of which you simply won’t find anywhere else in the area.

Digital X-Rays

X-rays enable our team to look at the roots of your teeth and the nearby bone that is hidden beneath the gum line, allowing us to examine the foundation of your smile so we can find potential issues that wouldn’t be apparent to the naked eye. Compared to traditional film X-rays, digital X-rays are not only much sharper, but they also take just seconds to develop, and they even emit 80-90% less radiation.

Intraoral Camera

One of the most basic challenges for our team is trying to get a good look inside someone’s mouth without just shining a bright light into it (and accidentally blinding them in the process). That’s why we like to use an intraoral camera, a small device that allows us to take close-up, high-resolution pictures of the teeth and gums. This not only helps us perform better exams, but we can also show a patient their images so they and our team are on the exact same page concerning the state of their dental health.

Digital Impression System

Before we can give a patient veneers, a denture, or dental implants, we need to take an impression of their bite. While this was accomplished by having the patient bite into a mold filled with putty in the past, we prefer to take a less messy approach. Now, with our digital impression system, we simply scan the mouth, and in about five minutes, the device’s software generates a perfect model of the teeth and bite.

MLS Laser - TMJ Therapy

For patients dealing with TMJ-related pain, our MLS laser can provide immediate relief for an aching jaw and sore muscles. Not only is this method extremely fast, but it also allows the patient to get what they need without having to resort to taking a lot of medication. Plus, the laser can also help our team identify which area of the jaw and muscles is the source of the pain, making it easier to come up with a long-term solution.

BioRESEARCH JVA - Joint Vibration Analysis

Chronic jaw pain often originates in the joint, known as the TMJ (temporomandibular joint), and JVA allows our dentists to actually listen to it and hear potential disturbances. If there is friction within the joint, this device will make it loud and clear, which will make it easy for our team to get to work eliminating it.

BioRESEARCH EMG – Electromyography

Electromyography lets us measure the activation of the muscles of the face and head while someone is moving their jaw. For a patient with a TMJ problem, it can show us which muscles are overworking and becoming tired, which is often the underlying cause of persistent pain. This helps make treatment more precise so we can directly address the issue rather than simply deal with the symptoms.

BioRESEARCH Jaw Tracker

The Jaw Tracker allows us to measure the movement of the jaw in real-time, helping us identify any inefficiencies or “hiccups” in the motion that might point to a TMJ problem. It looks like a piece of headgear from a sci-fi movie, but the movement-based data it gives us helps us examine the jaw as it functions so we clearly see what particular movements trouble a patient, which makes it easier for us to diagnose the problem. 

BioRESEARCH T-Scan

With the T-Scan, a patient simply bites down onto a small mouthpiece, and the device measures in what order and how hard the teeth touch. TMJ and bite issues might cause a very small area on one tooth to be exposed to a lot of pressure, which needless to say, can be extremely uncomfortable. The T-Scan can reveal these imbalances so we can correct them, and after treatment, we can measure the bite again to make sure everything is working properly.
